How long will therapy take?

How long will this take? What am I getting into?

Firstly
, the question deserves a straight answer. I try to make a summary of what was asked of the therapy at the start, what has been achieved and what remains to be done and how long that might take.

Secondly, what is the question behind the question:

"Will you abandon me?"

"Am I becoming dependant?"

"Are you tired of me?"

"Am I ever going to get rid of this pain?"

To consider these questions is to approach the unconscious. These questions arise, and make good sense in a day-world way, and they may well reflect a carry over from an earlier infantile experience, be a cry from the depths.

The good news is that if the familiar feelings behind the question are identified we are close to being able to heal them.

So, how long does therapy take? Until we have arrived at what was asked of the therapy. I am ready for that to happen quickly, or for it to simply take as long as it takes.

Another factor in this is your current relationship or marriage, is it enhancing or hindering your development? How can you make it work for you? (see links below)
